**UPDATE: The outage was caused by an underground electric cable failure this morning at 3rd & Gunnison Ave. Xcel Energy crews are currently working on a repair solution.**
An electric outage was reported this morning affecting approximately 1,500 Xcel Energy customers in the downtown area, including City facilities such as City Hall and traffic signals. Xcel Energy is aware of the situation and is responding to the outage. The cause of the outage is not known at this time.
Power at City Hall has been restored at this time and the City will continue to update the public on potential impacts to residents.
Please use caution when traveling through the area. Remember, if traffic lights are out, they should be treated as a four way stop. If able, please plan to use alternative routes until power is restored. If you must travel through the area, please be patient and be cautious as Xcel employees work to get power back up and running.
