Weed Abatement Program

As the City of Grand Junction enters the summer season, residents may start to notice an increase in weeds in both public and private areas. A Parks & Recreation Department crew mows, trims and sprays public areas for weeds as part of the City’s seasonal weed abatement program from May through October. Residents are responsible for maintaining private property by mowing, trimming or spraying for weeds.

The City performs weed abatement efforts on public property based on reports from the public. Crews are dispatched to take care of reported weed problems upon receipt of complaint. To report weeds in the City, please fill out a Fix It Form, or call Weed Abatement at 970-244-1583. While some complaints about weeds are reported for areas not maintained by the City, please know that the City passes complaints on to the appropriate agency. More information on the weed program can be found on the City’s website.

Please aid those around you who are unable to get out and cut or pull weeds. Together we can continue to keep the City of Grand Junction a beautiful community!
