***We appreciate our community’s overwhelming interest in seedling delivery. Due to quick and high demand, we are ALL OUT and have closed our submission form. We anticipate delivering these seedlings to those who submitted next week!**
During a regular meeting of City Council on the evening of April 15, City Council proclaimed Saturday, April 25 as Arbor Day in the City of Grand Junction. While Southwest Arbor Fest has been canceled due to COVID-19, the City of Grand Junction is not letting that ruin the City’s Arbor Day fun.
To keep you safe at home this year, the City is bringing the trees to you! The City has 550 beautiful seedlings ready to deliver right to your door, free of charge and just in time to be planted for Arbor Day on April 25th.
If you are a Grand Junction resident, sign-up is easy. Submit your request on our website, and Grand Junction Parks & Recreation staff will begin the process of dropping off tree seedlings beginning April 20th through April 24th. Seedling submissions are due by Monday, April 20th.
We’re encouraging residents to snap a picture while planting your tree on April 25th. Tag us on Facebook (@GJCity) or Instagram (@city_of_grand_junction) using the #GJStrong hashtag, and you will automatically be entered to win a larger containerized tree!
Please note: As the City has a limited number of seedlings and staff resources to deliver to a limited number of households, orders will be taken through a “first come first serve” system. Properties are allowed a maximum of five trees per household, and with limited availability we ask residents to have flexibility in the species they receive. If you have questions about the program, please call 970-254-3861.
