The City of Grand Junction Water Department performed maintenance on the City’s water supply line on Monday, July 1st. To ensure consistent water delivery to customers, the City partnered with Clifton Water District during this planned maintenance activity. Due to higher demands, water is flowing faster through service lines and mineral deposits like iron, calcium and magnesium can be dislodged from the inside of water pipes and may cause discoloration of the water.
Even though the water is discolored, it is safe. Crews are flushing hydrants to help clear the discoloration.
Should you experience discoloration, turn on the faucet closest to where your service line enters your home and let the water run for a few minutes. It should take about 3-5 minutes for the water to become clear again. If the water does not run clear, or if you have any questions, please contact Customer Service at (970) 244-1579.
