You are cordially invited to help the City plan for the future! The City of Grand Junction is conducting a 2020 Comprehensive Plan update and we need your input.
COMMUNITY VISIONING WORKSHOP: Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main Street
What is a Comprehensive Plan and What is Visioning?
A Comprehensive Plan is a critical road map to guide decisions about a community’s future and may include elements such as housing, recreation, tourism, the economy and transportation.
The City has been seeking input on this plan since the project initiation in April of this year. To assist in developing the plan, a project website was launched whereby one can provide input on issues, opportunities, vision and values to help the City in this planning effort.
The next step in the planning process is a Community Visioning Workshop that will be held on July 16th at the Avalon Theatre. The workshop will include both large- and small-group working
sessions to review and discuss conditions and potentials within the City. The large group will work together to identify issues and opportunities, and the small breakout groups will work together to develop “visions” for the future of the community. The workshop will conclude with a general agreement and understanding regarding the long-term role and character of Grand Junction, and the projects and improvements that will be desirable in the future.
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range plan that looks at issues such as where and how we will grow over the next 20 years. The Plan will include planning for residential and commercial growth and needed services and infrastructure such as parks, utilities and roads, but will also work to identify goals, strategies and actions that reflect the values and vision for the community as a whole.
We invite you to take part in this important and far reaching effort. For additional information, you may also visit the City’s website.
