The Horizon Drive Business Improvement District Board has chosen two local artists to paint the city owned transportation signal boxes (TSB’s) on Horizon Drive. Pavia Justinian, who has had public art in Palisade, Grand Junction, Longmont, Westminster, and Moab, will paint her bike riding Kokopelli on the box located on G Rd and Horizon Drive. Josh Anderson, a cartoonist and graphic designer, will paint his piece representing iconic desert landscapes with fun animated local animals on the box located on Crossroads Boulevard and Horizon Drive.
Electric Art, as the project is known, was started last year with the painting of two signal boxes on 4th Street and 5th Street and Main, as part of the Downtown Art Festival. This year we are extending the reach to our gateway corridor on Horizon Drive to welcome visitors with more art! The boxes are scheduled to be painted the first part of May. Electric Art is a program overseen by the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture.
