The Horizon Drive pedestrian safety improvement project, which was constructed by PNCI Construction, Inc. of Grand Junction, is nearly complete and all traffic lanes along Horizon are open. The $335,741 project constructed three pedestrian crossings, each featuring ADA accessible ramps, median refuge areas, and pedestrian-activated flashing beacons. The three crossings were constructed between G Road and the south roundabout at Visitor’s Way.
Street lights for the medians are on order and will be installed along the corridor in the area of the crosswalks once received in early April. A public ribbon-cutting celebration is anticipated after the work is 100% finished.
The project was partially funded by a $225,000 Federal Highway Administration Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant.
