City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

7th Street Reconstruction Project, North Avenue to Orchard Avenue

  • Expect lane shifts, closures and delays
  • All business and resident access will remain open
  • Alternate route would be advised
  • Anticipated completion – August 2018.

2018 Asphalt Overlay Program
This week’s activities will include:

Concrete removal and replacement

  • The following streets are scheduled for concrete removal and replacement:
    • West Main Street from Chuluota Avenue to west end of pavement

Asphalt Paving

  • The following streets are scheduled for asphalt milling:
    • 3rd Avenue from 9th Street to the east end of pavement
    • Winters Avenue from 7th Street to 9th Street
    • Winters Avenue from 10th Street to 15th Street
    • 4th Avenue from 9th Street to 10th Street

Shoulder Widening

River Road from 24 Road to Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant

  • Traffic delays can be expected
  • Rolling lane closures will be utilized
  • Business and resident access will be maintained at all times.


Roadway striping

  • The following streets are scheduled to be striped this week (weather dependent):
    • 1st Street from Grand Avenue to H Road
    • 7th Street from Orchard Avenue to I Road
    • Independent Avenue from 1st Street to 25 ½ Road
  • Motorists should expect lane restrictions and delays
  • Please avoid crossing wet paint.


Sewer Line Replacement Project Phase A

South 7th Street between Kimball Avenue and Winters Avenue and South 9th Street and 3rd Avenue

  • Expect alternating one-lane traffic and delays
  • Business access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – mid June.


Waterline Replacement Project

Compton Street south of Elm Avenue and Kennedy Avenue east of Compton Street

  • Resident access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – mid June. 




Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

7th Street and Orchard Avenue intersection, gas line replacement – Xcel Energy Project

  • Expect lane shifts and delays
  • Alternate route would be advised
  • Anticipated completion – June 8.

Orchard Avenue between 28 Road and 28 ½ Road, Power Line and Pole Replacement Project – Xcel Energy

  • Expect intermittent lane shifts and possible traffic delays
  • Anticipated completion – August 2018.

Hwy 340 Bike/Pedestrian Facility Project between Kansas Avenue and Grand Vista Drive – CDOT Project

  • Westbound shoulder closure with possible east and westbound one-lane alternating traffic
  • Please be aware of the speed limit reduction and obey construction road signs
  • Work hours will be Monday– Friday, 9am to 5pm

  • Anticipated completion – October 2019.

Broadway and Redlands Parkway, Roundabout Construction – CDOT Project

  • All directions of traffic will use the temporary roundabout configuration
  • Traffic will be directed by use of barrels, signage and possibly flaggers
  • Expect traffic stops with minimal delays
  • There is a 9-foot width restriction 24/7 for the duration of project (no semi-trailers allowed)
  • Be aware of the 35 MPH speed limit leading up to the roundabout and 15 MPH going through the roundabout

Rim Rock Drive, east hill resurfacing – Colorado National Monument Project

  • Rim Rock Drive from Devils Kitchen Trailhead (near the east entrance) up to DS Road (Glade Park Road) will be open with restrictions and delays
  • Little Park Road will remain an alternate route to Glade Park and the Monument for those wishing to avoid construction

I-70 Exit 49 Grand Mesa Ramp Improvement Project – CDOT Project

  • Westbound I-70 right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 49.5 & MP 48
  • Eastbound I-70: right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 48 & MP 49.5
  • Motorists will still have access to Exit 49
  • Westbound I-70 Exit 49 on ramp will have a 14’ width restriction 24/7
  • Westbound Exit 49 on ramp please yield before merging onto I-70
  • Westbound speed limit is 35 MPH
  • Eastbound speed limit is 50 MPH
  • Work hours will be 7am – 6pm, Monday – Friday

  • Anticipated completion – late September.

I-70 Bridge Maintenance Project Near DeBeque  – CDOT Project

  • Both west and eastbound I-70 traffic will be moved to two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes of I-70, 24/7.
  • Speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH through the work zone

21 ½ Road Utility Work between H Road and I Road – Private Development Project

  • 21 ½ Road will be closed to thru traffic 24/7 between H Road and I Road
  • Use 22 Road as the detour route
  • All business and resident access will be maintained.

Water Line Replacement Project (Orchard Mesa) – Ute Water Project

  • B ½ Road will be closed at approximately W. Parkview Drive starting Tuesday May 29
  • Detour routes will be in place
  • Anticipated completion – June 5.

New Fire Hydrant at 2713 B ½ Road – Ute Water Project

  • B ½ Road will be closed to thru traffic between 27 Road and Frontage Road on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Access will be maintained for local residents
  • Anticipated completion – June 6.

New Gas Service at 12th Street and Patterson Road – Xcel Energy Project

Sunday June 3:

  • 12th Street will be restricted to one lane north bound
  • Traffic delays can be expected
  • Alternate route is advised
  • Anticipated completion – June 4.
