City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

2018 Asphalt Overlay Program

Concrete removal and replacement

  • The following streets are scheduled for concrete removal and replacement:
    • Winters Avenue from 7th Street to 9th Street
    • Winters Avenue from 10th Street to 15th Street
    • 4th Avenue from 9th Street to 10th Street

Asphalt Milling

  • The following streets are scheduled for asphalt milling:
    • 3rd Avenue from 9th Street to the east end of pavement
    • West Main Street from the west end of pavement to Chuluota Avenue

Asphalt Paving (Night Operations)

  • The following streets are scheduled for nighttime asphalt paving:
    • Base Rock Street from American Way to Rimrock Avenue
    • Rimrock Avenue from Base Rock Street to I-70B
    • Bogart Lane from Rimrock Avenue to Independent Avenue
    • W. Independent Avenue from Bogart Lane to 24 ¾ Road
    • 24 ¾ Road from Independent Avenue to I-70B

Shoulder Widening

River Road from 24 Road to Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant

  • Traffic delays can be expected
  • Rolling lane closures will be utilized
  • Business and resident access will be maintained at all times.

Roadway striping

  • The following streets are scheduled to be striped (weather dependent):
    • Base Rock Street from Rim Rock Avenue
    • Crosby Avenue from Base Rock Street to Main Street
    • Main Street from Crosby Avenue to 1st Street
    • Rim Rock Avenue from Base Rock Street to Hwy 6 & 50
    • Independent Avenue from Bogart Lane to 24 ¾ Road
    • 24 ¾ Road from Independent Avenue to I-70B
    • American Way from Base Rock Street to Hwy 6 & 50
    • Gunnison Avenue from Crosby Avenue to Hwy 6 & 50
  • Motorists should expect lane restrictions and delays
  • Please avoid crossing wet paint.


Sewer Line Replacement Project Phase A

South 7th Street between Kimball Avenue and Winters Avenue

  • Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 7am to 5pm
  • Expect alternating one-lane traffic and delays
  • Business access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – mid June.

South 9th Street and 3rd Avenue

  • Expect traffic delays and possible detours
  • Business access will be maintained.


Waterline Replacement Project

Compton Street south of Elm Avenue and Kennedy Avenue east of Compton Street

  • Resident access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – mid June. 




Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

Hwy 340 Bike/Pedestrian Facility Project between Kansas Avenue and Grand Vista Drive – CDOT Project

  • Westbound shoulder closure with possible east and westbound one-lane alternating traffic
  • Please be aware of the speed limit reduction and obey construction road signs
  • Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm

  • Anticipated completion – October 2019.

Broadway and Redlands Parkway, Roundabout Construction – CDOT Project

  • All directions of traffic will use the temporary roundabout configuration
  • Traffic will be directed by use of barrels, signage and possibly flaggers
  • Expect traffic stops with minimal delays
  • There is a 9-foot width restriction 24/7 for the duration of project (no semi-trailers allowed)
  • Be aware of the 35 MPH speed limit leading up to the roundabout and 15 MPH going through the roundabout

Rim Rock Drive – Colorado National Monument Project

  • Rim Rock Drive from Devils Kitchen Trailhead (near the east entrance) up to DS Road (Glade Park Road) will be with restrictions and delays.
  • Little Park Road will remain an alternate route to Glade Park and the Monument for those wishing to avoid construction

I-70 Exit 49 Grand Mesa Ramp Improvement Project – CDOT Project

  • Westbound I-70 right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 49.5 & MP 48
  • Eastbound I-70: right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 48 & MP 49.5
  • Motorists will still have access to Exit 49
  • Westbound I-70 Exit 49 on ramp will have a 14’ width restriction 24/7
  • Westbound Exit 49 on ramp please yield before merging onto I-70
  • Westbound speed limit is 35 MPH
  • Eastbound speed limit is 50 MPH
  • Work hours will be 7am – 6pm, Monday – Friday

I-70 Bridge Maintenance Project Near DeBeque  – CDOT Project

  • Both west and eastbound I-70 traffic will be moved to two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes of I-70, 24/7.
  • Speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH through the work zone

21 ½ Road Utility Work between H Road and I Road – Private Development Project

  • 21 ½ Road will be closed to thru traffic 24/7 between H Road and I Road
  • Use 22 Road as the detour route
  • All business and resident access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – June.
