Road Work

City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

29 Road and Unaweep Avenue, Relocation of Utilities in Advance of Signal Installation

  • Expect lane shifts and traffic delays
  • Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists
  • Please slow down through construction zone
  • Work hours will be 7am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion for the utility work – mid March.

Elm Avenue from 28 ¼ Road to 28 ¾ Road – Waterline Replacement Project

  • Elm Avenue is closed to thru traffic 24/7 from 28 ½ Road to 28 ¼ Road
  • Access will be maintained for local residents
  • Detour routes will be in place
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion – early May.

Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

Broadway and Redlands Parkway, Roundabout Construction – CDOT Project

  • Expect lane shifts and brief traffic delays
  • Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel
  • Work hours are 7am – 7pm, Monday through Friday
  • Anticipated completion – November 2018

  • Anticipated completion – November.

Rim Rock Drive (partial closure for construction) – Colorado National Monument Project

This project will consist of three phases between now and July 31, 2018.

  • Monday, March 12: Asphalt crews will begin resurfacing Rim Rock Drive between the Grand Junction entrance and DS Road (The Glade Park Road)
  • Motorists will experience alternating one-lane traffic with possible 15 – 30 minute delays
  • Pilot cars will be used to get motorists safely through construction zone
  • Little Park Road will be an alternate route for those traveling to and from Glade Park

I-70 Exit 49 Grand Mesa Ramp Improvement Project – CDOT Project

  • Starting Monday, March 12: Westbound I-70 right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 49.5 & MP 48
  • Eastbound I-70: right lane closure and 14’ width restriction 24/7 between MP 48 & MP 49.5
  • Motorists will still have access to Exit 49
  • Westbound I-70 Exit 49 on ramp will have a 14’ width restriction 24/7
  • Please obey the speed limit reduction of 50 mph and construction road signs
  • Work hours will be 7am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion – late September

21 ½ Road Utility Work between H Road and I Road – Private Development Project

  • 21 ½ Road will be closed to thru traffic 24/7 between H Road and I Road
  • Use 22 Road as the detour route
  • All business and resident access will be maintained
  • Anticipated completion – early May.
