City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

29 Road and Unaweep Avenue, Relocation of Utilities in Advance of Signal Installation

  • Expect lane shifts and traffic delays
  • Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists
  • Please slow down through construction zone
  • Work hours will be 7am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion for the utility work – mid March.

Elm Avenue from 28 ¼ Road to 28 ¾ Road – Waterline Replacement Project

  • Beginning Monday, Elm Avenue will be closed to thru traffic 24/7 from 28 ½ Road to 28 ¼ Road
  • Access will be maintained for local residents
  • Detour routes will be in place
  • Monday only: The intersection of 28 ½ and Elm Avenue will be closed
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion – early May.

Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

Broadway and Redlands Parkway, Roundabout Construction – CDOT Project

  • Expect lane shifts, possible detours and traffic delays
  • Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists
  • Please slow down through construction zone
  • Construction crews plan on working 12-hour shifts
  • Anticipated completion – November

Rim Rock Drive (partial closure for construction)–Colorado National Monument Project

This project will consist of three phases between now and July 31, 2018.  The first part of the project involves road construction between Highland View Overlook and Artist Point Overlook.

  • Passenger vehicles must turn around at either Highland View Overlook or Artist Point Overlook
  • Oversize vehicles and those pulling trailers must turn around at 16 ½ Road or Independence Monument View
  • Anticipated completion for this first phase will be March 9

I-70 Exit 49 Grand Mesa Ramp Improvement Project- CDOT Project

  • Eastbound right lane closure 24/7 from MP 48 – MP 49.5
  • Motorists will still have access to Exit 49 off ramp
  • There is a 14-foot width restriction 24/7 for eastbound I-70 from MP 48 – MP 49.5
  • There is a 14-foot width restriction and shoulder closure 24/7 for the westbound Exit 49 onramp for the duration of project
  • Please obey the speed limit reduction of 50 mph and construction road signs
  • Work hours will be 7am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • Anticipated completion – late September

21 ½ Road Utility Work between H Road and I Road – Private Development

  • Starting Monday, 21 ½ Road will be closed to thru traffic 24/7 between H Road and I Road
  • Use 22 Road as the detour route
  • Anticipated completion – early May.
