The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has once again been awarded to the City of Grand Junction by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.
“I am proud of the continued efforts of City Council, City management, and accounting staff to earn this award each year. The CAFR is an important record of the City’s fiscal responsibility and financial management, and to achieve this level of distinction year after year is a great achievement,” said Jodi Romero, City of Grand Junction Finance Director.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C. serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals.
