On August 16, 2017, City Council unanimously adopted the City of Grand Junction Strategic Plan. The document, which was many months in the making, will serve as a guide for the City Council and City staff over the course of the next two years.
The Plan is based on two guiding principles: Partnership & Intergovernmental Relationships and Fiscal Responsibility.
The guiding principles lead to the four Strategic Directives of the Plan:
- Public Safety
- Planning & Infrastructure
- Diversification of our Economic Base
- Communication, Outreach & Engagement
Mayor Rick Taggart noted, “The City has been without a strategic plan for some time so this is a significant step forward for the entire organization. It will provide us a foundational road map for the next two years. I am very pleased with the collective work that went into this and I look forward to using it as a tool in our decision making and policy implementation.”
Each of the strategic directives is accompanied by a number of key initiatives, which involve specific actions, programs and ideas designed to bring about the realization of the strategic directives. The complete plan can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/2wiYdOs
