Projects Affecting Traffic for the Week of August 6, 2017


City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions    

Riverside Parkway Resurfacing Project (Night work:  6pm to 7am , Sunday – Thursday)

Finish paving section between West Avenue and 25 Road.  Paving between rail spur at Coors Tech. and 24 Road.

  • Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists.

2017 Street Chip Seal Program

City Crews will be chip sealing streets Sunday – Wednesday from the daytime hours of 6am to 5pm.  The City streets in this year’s chip sealing program are between 1st Street and 19th Street and between North Avenue and Patterson Road.

City Crews will be fog sealing streets Monday – Thursday from the nighttime hours of 8pm to 6am. Streets fog sealed this week will be the streets that were chip sealed last week.

  •  Residential and business access will be maintained at all times
  •  Traffic delays may occur as a result of this project
  •  Anticipated completion –  August 2017.

Contract Street Chip Seal Project

Grand Avenue from 1st Street to 12th Street, Horizon Drive from the 12th Street, roundabout to G Road, and B ½ Road from Highway 50 to 29 Road

  • Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists.

2017 Street Overlay Project

Paving – 26 Road from Patterson Road to F ½ Road (Monday and Tuesday), Milling – Ridges Blvd. from Hwy 340 to Mariposa Drive (possibly end of the week)


28 ½ Road and Elm Avenue Storm Inlet Replacement Project

Wednesday – Friday: Westbound Elm Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Elm Drive and 28 ½ Road.

  • Detour route will be in place.



Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions        

I-70 Beavertail Tunnel Lighting Project (east of Palisade) – CDOT

  • Speed limit reduction throughout construction zone is set at 35 mph
  • Eastbound I-70 traffic will be detoured onto service road. No vehicle parking or bicycling on the service road.
  • Westbound traffic will detour through the eastbound tunnel
  • Both west and east bound traffic can expect single-lane closures
  • Project hours will be weekdays 7am – 5pm
