The City of Grand Junction and it’s Forestry Board will kick off the 2nd Annual Community Tree Planting this Saturday, May 6th at the much anticipated Las Colonias Amphitheater.
Sponsored, in part by a grant program from Xcel Energy and the Colorado Tree Coaltion, together the City of Grand Junction and the Forestry Board will add more than 100 trees to our City’s canopy through the event this year. Selections will be diverse and introduce varieties not commonly found in our valley.
Take advantage of this opportunity to build our community through trees! Bring your family, your gloves, and a shovel, and come get dirty with us! We will provide a pancake/doughnut breakfast for all participants beginning at 8 A.M. Breakfast will be followed by instruction on how to correctly plant our trees, and the tree planting is anticipated to last until noon.
